David Perez Tijerina, 70, of Cumby, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 8, 2016.  He was born on January 21, 1946 in Luling, Texas to Santiago Gill Tijerina and Elmira Perez Tijerina.   Mr. Tijerina’s family will receive relatives and friends at a visitation to be held Saturday, June 18, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Commerce Funeral Home, 1505 Washington St., Commerce.   A memorial service will follow at 12:00 p.m.

David retired from a career with Wing Industries.   In his younger years, he enjoyed a friendly game of pool.  In later years, he enjoyed the time he spent with his family and friends while fishing. 

David is survived by his two daughters Lupita Yvonne Tijerina Parker and husband Russell,  Terrie Tijerina Webb and husband Keith; two granddaughters Whitney Webb Helfferich and husband Jimmy, Ariel Lauren Huckabee and husband Tyler; two grandsons Miles Aaron Parker and wife Janie, and Jamie Clayton Webb; and four great grandchildren Nehemiah Huckabee, Hadley Helfferich, Penelope Parker, Tobias Parker; one brother, Paul Tijerina; two sisters Nora Tijerina Rodriguez and Elva Tijerina Neria; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Santiago Gill Tijerina and Elmira Perez Tijerina;  brothers Raymond Setles,  Jim Perez Tijerina and Hector Tijerina; sisters Gloria Tijerina and Elida Tijerina.
