Michael Craig Miller, 53, of Commerce, passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at his home in Commerce.  He was born on August 18, 1962 in Fort Worth, Texas, the son of Elroy Miller and Mildred Manning Miller.  No services are planned at this time. 

Michael was an Air Force “brat” for the first twelve years of his life.  He attended high school in Denison, Texas, graduating in 1980.  Following high school, he earned his BFA from Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas.  He then attended the University of California, Davis, where he earned his MFA.  In 1992, Michael joined the faculty at East Texas State University, where he was a Professor of Art and the Director of Graduate Studies.  Michael retired in 2011. 

Michael is survived by his father, Elroy Miller, of Ben Franklin, Texas; his sister, Teresa Miller Wiggins, of Ben Franklin, Texas; and nephew, Sam Wiggins, of Ben Franklin.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Miller.
