Troy Curtis Tindel, 91, of Campbell, passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2017.  He was born on February 7, 1926 in Groom, Texas, the son of Benjamin Franklin Tindel and Pauline Truss Tindel.  Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. on August 26 at Commerce Funeral Home.  Funeral Services will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

After living in Groom for a time, Troy’s family moved to Troup, Texas, where they bought a farm.  Troy was not a big guy, so he had to stop every once in a while to walk around the mule he was using to plow in order to ensure he was plowing a straight line!  He was drafted into the service during WW II.   During his boat trip to Hawaii, the Navy discovered he had a real battle with sea sickness!  After his discharge from the Navy, his family moved to Whiteface, Texas, where he worked in the oil fields, until an accident brought that work to an end.  In 1952, Troy married Minnie Truss after a very brief romance.  Shortly thereafter, he began Troy’s Meat Market.  He continued working in the grocery industry until his retirement in 1981.  He enjoyed working his garden and caring for his animals for many years.  Sadly, his wife, Minnie, passed away in 1995, following a brave fight with breast cancer.  In 2002, he met and married Florine.  He continued to garden and raise chickens until his health prevented him from doing so.  Troy enjoyed his life and family and there are many fond memories that will be shared for years.

Troy is survived by his wife, Florine; his children Corlis Tindel of Grand Saline, James Tindel of Grand Saline, Janet Harmon of Garland and Diana Carver of Harrison, Arkansas; step children Ronnie Nutt of Graham, Johnny Nutt of Throckmorton and Glen Nutt of Commerce; grandchildren Curtis Tindel of Harrison, Arkansas, Emily Paddock of Garland,  Alison Gonzalez of Oak Cliff, Laura Carver of Harrison, Arkansas, Elizabeth Carver of Harrison, Arkansas; great grandchildren, Brylan Tindel of Harrison, Arkansas, Gene Paddock of Garland, Ernesto Aguilar of Garland, Sophia Harmon of Garland, Sebastian Aguilar of Garland, Bella Harmon of Garland, Cason Tindel of  Harrison, Arkansas, Caiden Regnier of Harrison, Arkansas, Emma Tindel of Harrison, Arkansas, and Galilea Gonzalez of Garland; brothers Johnny Tindel of Jefferson City, Tennessee and Benjamin Tindel of Lake Charles, Louisiana; sisters Minnie Snyder of Forney and Connie Woods of Lillian and numerous step grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Pauline Tindel;  wife Minnie Tindel;  brother James Tindel; sisters Leasey Jo Rinaldi, Helen Cooper, Opal Cooper and Linnie Riddle and step children Larry Nutt, Karen Benthul and Eddy Nutt.
