Nancy Madewell

Nancy Marie Madewell, of Commerce, passed away January 25, 2019.  Nancy was born on September 27, 1932, to Wilhelmina (Hard) and Elmer Cecil Jones in Aubrey, TX.   She married A. B. Madewell on February 3, 1951, in Denton, TX.  

Nancy attended Denton High School.  In 1960, she and A.B. moved their family to Commerce, TX where they owned and operated a dairy farm and cattle ranch.  She was an accomplished homemaker who enjoyed cooking and baking for her large family and many friends.  Along with A.B., she managed their finances and rental property.  Her passion was working in her flower beds, baking, and spending time with her family.

Nancy is survived by her loving children, Deborah Daffron and husband, Don; Bobby Madewell and wife, Karen; Vickie O’Neal and husband, Danny; Diane Stegall and husband, Glenn; Quint Madewell and wife, Rebecca; 12 grandchildren, Michelle Marker, Lance Wheat, Misty McNeely, Josh Madewell, Heather Murray, Duke O’Neal, Rowdy O’Neal, Jennifer Allen, Colby Stegall, Whitney Rice, and Blake Madewell; 20 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, A.B.; and granddaughter, Paige O’Neal.

Graveside services will be held at Old Alton Cemetery in Denton, TX on Sunday, January 27, 2019.

Honorary Pallbearers are her grandsons, Lance Wheat, Duke O’Neal, Rowdy O’Neal, Josh Madewell, Colby Stegall and Blake Madewell.
