Winifred Tull Obituary

Winifred L. Tull, 87, passed away peacefully in Allen, TX on Thursday, October 31, 2019, surrounded by her family.  She was born on April 18, 1932, in Trinidad and Tobago to George and Leonteen Tull.  Winnie was the first of ten siblings.  She moved to Connecticut in 1975, becoming a naturalized citizen of the United States on April 3, 1998.  The funeral mass will be on Friday, November 8, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Allen, Texas.

Winnie attended the Morse School of Business and graduated with a diploma in Fashion and Retail Merchandising.  She had a keen eye for fashion.  Her second job, which she worked on weekends, was at a clothing store where she helped customers with choosing outfits.  Winnie was always well dressed and was very artistic.  She enjoyed hand painting fabric for skirts and dresses.  She worked at the Hebrew Home and Hospital in Hartford, CT for over 20 years, until her retirement. Upon retirement, she received a commendation for 20 years of service.  She truly loved working with people.  She knew the names of all her coworkers and patients.  Hebrew Home had “CareGrams” for patients and family to show their appreciation for staff who went above and beyond the call of duty.  Winnie received several CareGrams for her work.

Winnie was a generous, loving, kindhearted person with a great sense of humor.  She was very opinionated and stubborn about her beliefs.  She was one who remembered everyone’s birthday, anniversary and special occasions.  She sent out cards for every occasion and was the first to call and wish happy birthday. Winnie’s catholic faith was very important to her.  She rode the bus to attend mass every day, until her health didn’t permit her to do so.  When she was no longer able to attend, she watched mass on television.  Winnie loved watching game shows and sports on television.  She also enjoyed going to the casino.  She attended church functions as long as she was physically able to do so.  Winnie went home to Trinidad for Christmas every year.  Christmas was her favorite holiday.

Winnie is survived by her siblings, Ismay, Donald, Jennifer, Colleen and Gayle; nieces and nephews, Gerard, Neolita, Kendall, Colin, George Andrew, Camille, Johnnie, Suzette, Michelle, Leonardo, Nicol, Donna, and Jonica.  She was step-aunt to Allison, Teisha and Damion.  She was Aunt-in-law to Lindi, Mike, Dayanand, Nundi and Carol. Her sister-in-law, Doreen.  She was an honorary aunt to Frank and Wayne. Winnie was great aunt and great-great aunt to many.  She was dear friends with Helen Mary, Diane, Mary Gem, Carol Glenda, Connie and Ursula.  She was a relative of the Baldeosinghs, Cocorrans, DeFours and Saunders.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Leonteen Tull, and her siblings, Rita, Sylvia, Winston and Diane and her brothers-in-law William and Anthony.

The family of Winifred L. Tull wishes to extend heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all those who attended the funeral, telephoned, offered prayers or in any way extended their sympathy and support during this time of bereavement.  May God bless you all.
