IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Anna Jean
Stachowiak
May 25, 1926 – February 11, 2026
Anna Jean Stachowiak, a resident of Commerce, made her entry into Heaven on February 11, 2026, just 3 months shy of her 100th birthday. Jean was born on May 25, 1926 in Waltham Township, Illinois, the daughter of John Freebairn and Edith Freebairn (Offergeld).
Jean attended LaSalle High School in Illinois, graduating with the class of 1944. On January 5, 1946, she married the love of her life, Frank Ralph Stachowiak, in LaSalle, Illinois. After Frank retired, he and Jean made Commerce their home for many years.
Jean had many hobbies, including playing Bingo and sewing. She was a valued member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the St. Joseph’s Women’s Guild, the Red Hat Society and enjoyed volunteering at local Special Olympics events. Above all, Jean was a homemaker who doted on her family. Her greatest joy was spending time with loved ones and making memories. Jean will be remembered for her wit, sense of humor, and kind heart.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter, Cheryl Smith; sons, Dick (Mina) Stachowiak, David Stachowiak, Bob (Dixie) Stachowiak, and Dan (Jeanette) Stachowiak; grandchildren, Becky Smith, Emily (Justin) Call, Sarah (Tyler Hill) Stachowiak, Tim (Jeanne) Stachowiak, Brent (Liz) Turman, Bella Stachowiak, Zach Stachowiak, Cody Stachowiak, and Cayson Stachowiak; great grandchildren, Augustus Call, Rowan Call, Chloe Call, Molly Call, Stella Hill-Stach, Otto Hill-Stach, Peter Stachowiak, Andrew Stachowiak, Briggs Turman, Eli Turman, and Naomi Turman.
Those preceding Jean in death are husband, Frank Stachowiak; brothers and sisters in law, Wes (Naomi) Freebairn, Tom (June) Freebairn, Don (Lucretia) Freebairn; brother, Orville Freebairn, and son in law, Joe Smith.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or the Northeast Texas Children’s Museum, both located in Commerce, Texas.
