Anson Reese Lowrie, Sr. passed away on September 23, 2025 at Paris Regional Health in Paris, Texas. Anson was born December 4, 1936 in Fort Worth, Texas, the son of Ross M. Lowrie and Lola Mabel Daniel. A graveside service will take place on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Cumby, Texas.

Anson graduated from Royse City with the class of 1955. Shortly thereafter, Anson met Velma Jeanine Roundtree and the two married at the First United Methodist Church in Commerce on January 25, 1958. They built a life and a love story together that spanned 50 years.

Anson and Velma moved to Cumby, Texas where Anson was a carpenter and rancher for 65 years. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family and in doing so left behind a legacy of hard work and exemplary work ethic. He raised cattle for a living and was also very adept at breaking horses. In addition, he was a skilled carpenter and enjoyed attending Cross Trails Cowboy Church in Fairlie when he could.

Left to cherish Anson’s memory are his sons Kenny Lowrie and wife Alice, Reese Lowrie, and Daniel (Boone) Lowrie, along with numerous other relatives and friends.

Those preceding Anson in death are his wife, Velma; sons, Jimmy Don Lowrie and Rodney Lewis Lowrie; parents Ross and Lola Lowrie; and six sisters and two brothers.
