Bobby Joe Eilers, age 58, passed away to be with his Lord and Savior, on Tuesday, the 12th of May, at his home in Campbell, Texas. Bobby was a devoted son, brother, father, uncle, and friend.
A tribute to Bobby’s life will be held on Saturday, May 16th at Commerce Funeral Home at 1505 Washington Street in Commerce, Texas: the family will receive family and friends at a visitation and viewing beginning at 1:00 pm, and a time of remembrance and celebration will begin at 2:00. Directly following, Bobby will be laid to rest in Brigham Cemetery in Campbell, Texas.
Bobby was born in Texarkana, Texas, to Carolyn Ann and Tyke Jones Eilers on January 25, 1968. He graduated from Commerce High School and went on to graduate from East Texas State University with a degree in agriculture.
The only thing larger than his moustache was his personality. You never knew just what he was going to say, but rest assured, it would be to the point and might make a sailor blush. He was best known for his many years of raising, breeding, and showing rabbits. An avid showman, Bobby received many awards and accolades for his rabbits all over the nation. However, his greatest joy came from encouraging young people as they learned to show their rabbits, always offering kindness and support that made them feel valued and confident.
Bobby was preceded in death by his father, T.J. Eilers, mother, Carolyn Eilers, grandparents, Alvena & Willie Pace of Clarksville, Texas, grandparents, Mary & Delbert Eilers of Clarksville, Texas, along with his partner, Rowena Yvonne Knox of Commerce, Texas.
Bobby’s joy for life will live on in those who he held most dear: his beloved daughter and the apple-of-his-eye, Morgan Elise Eilers, his nephew, Pace Andrew Eilers, who was a constant source of immense pride, his loving brother and first best friend, Delbert “Bert” Anthony Eilers and his wife, Pam of Campbell, Texas, his bonus brother, Dedrick “Dee” Booth, his wife, Stephanie, and their two children, Makayla and Darius of Commerce, Texas. He is also survived by his aunts, Marie Pace Hutchison, of Clarksville, Texas, and Gayla Pace Ross, of Gilmer, Texas, including a host of cousins and devoted friends.
Pallbearers are David Foster, Jimmy Beggs, Chris Blakley, Dee Booth, Darius Booth, Kenny Bounds, Pace Eilers, Chisolm Tessem, and Charles “Chuck” Webster (Honorary).
