Carolyn Gail Meador

Carolyn “Gail” Meador, of Commerce, Texas, passed away on September 10, 2025 at Medical City Plano. Gail was born on October 4, 1947, in Gilmer, Texas, the daughter of John Felder Julian and Lena Edith Julian. Gail later moved to Greenville, Texas with her family where she attended school.

Gail met Elven Benson and later married in 1967. They moved to Commerce, Texas and welcomed a son, Mark Benson, in 1971. She embraced Commerce as her home for more than 55 years. Elven passed away in 1985, leaving Gail to raise Mark as a single mother.

Gail worked at Sherwood Medical in Commerce. During this time, she met Harold “Ray” Meador whom she later married on August 20, 1993. Gail was excited to have another son, Kevin Meador.

In her spare time, Gail enjoyed cooking, reading, and spending time with family and friends. In recent years, she was an active member of Kathy’s Bits and Bites. In this weekly meeting with friends from the Commerce area, they would exchange ideas and learn about healthy food options and food preparation.

Left to cherish Gail’s memory are sons Mark Benson and wife Jenna; Kevin Meador and wife Jennifer; brother, Jerry Julian and husband Johnny Caldwell; grandchildren Emily Meador and Collin Meador.

Preceding Gail in death are her first husband, Elven Benson; husband, Harold Ray Meador; parents, John and Edith Julian; sisters, Elois Benson, Linda Julian, and Nancy Julian; and brother, Leo Julian.

Gail wished to be interred with her late husband, Ray, at DFW National Cemetery, which will occur on a date to be determined.
