Frank Ray Fisher, 78, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 6, 2026.
He was born on November 12, 1947, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Frank Ray Fisher Sr. and Delores Lavina Tucker Fisher.
A graveside service will take place on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Sonora Cemetery in Fairlie, Texas.
After graduating from high school, Frank began working as a butcher for Oscar Mayer in Davenport, Iowa. In 1968, he married the love of his life, Celia Leeann Krum, and together they raised four children—one son and three daughters.
Following the closure of the plant, Frank retired from his work as a butcher and moved his family to Texas, where he began a new career in maintenance. Over the years, he earned multiple certifications and became highly skilled in his trade. Known for his strong work ethic and mechanical ability, skills he developed alongside his father, Frank became a trusted mentor and lifelong friend to many in his field.
Frank retired in 2020 as he began to lose his sight. During the early years of his blindness, his devoted wife cared for him. After 54 years of marriage, Celia passed away in 2022 following a long and difficult recovery from a stroke. Frank remained by her side every day throughout those nine months. Even when she could no longer speak and he could no longer see, they stayed connected—holding hands each day until her final moments.
In his later years, Frank faced the challenge of life without his wife while adapting to complete blindness. With resilience, he learned to live independently in assisted living, finding comfort in routine and connection. He enjoyed making new friends, listening to the news and Old Testament DVDs, and especially cherished weekly Sunday visits with his family.
Frank is survived by his children: Angela, Tina, Christy, and Paul; 15 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Ray Fisher Sr. and Delores Lavina Tucker Fisher, as well as his sisters, Patty and Paula.
