It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jack Orvle Kelly, who departed this life on October 11, 2025, in Commerce, Texas, at the age of 91.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Commerce Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 11:00, with interment at Rosemound Cemetery immediately following.

Born December 13, 1933, in Commerce, Texas, Jack was the son of Jack Kelly, Sr. and Kate McClendon Kelly. From an early age, he fostered a love for learning and a passion for craftsmanship. Jack graduated from East Texas State University in 1960 and later earned a Master of Science degree in 1979, laying the foundation for a remarkable career in the Industrial Arts.

Jack worked as a project engineer with E-Systems, where he was celebrated for his innovative projects. He also imparted his knowledge and passion for industrial arts by working as a shop teacher, a career from which he eventually retired. However, this commitment to education remained unwavering, as he later taught basic skills for companies in partnership with East Texas State University’s Continuing Education Department.

Jack was not only devoted to his career but also to his beloved wife, Pat Kelly. They enjoyed 33 wonderful years of marriage before Pat’s death in 2023. They were faithful members of First Baptist Church in Commerce. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and a strong sense of community.

Jack often recalled playing football for the Commerce Tigers, instilling in him a lifelong spirit of teamwork and perseverance. He served honorably as a signalman in the Navy aboard the USS Hopewell from 1952-1955, where his service filled him with pride and a lasting love for the military.

Jack’s final days were marked by his trademark humor and sage advice. Known for his cheerful spirit, he often left visitors with a smile, encouraging them with his whimsical words, “watch pulling out,” a reminder to cherish every moment. May he rest in peace.

Jack’s legacy is carried on by his loving daughter, Jill Grove, and her husband, JimBob; his stepdaughters, Patty Hoskins and husband, Brad, and Cindy Mize and husband, Kenny. He leaves behind many grandchildren and great grandchildren, all whom he adored dearly.

Jack is preceded in death by his wife, Pat; his parents; son, Bryan Kelly; and beloved siblings, Maureen Daniels, Nona May Lowe, and Betty Cummings.

Serving as Pallbearers are Joseph Grove, Dustin Kelly, Jeff Benson, JimBob Grove, Brad Hoskins, and Kenny Mize.
