Luke Aaron Scarcelli

May 5, 2002 — March 24, 2026

Commerce

Luke Aaron Scarcelli, a devoted servant of Christ, beloved son, brother, and friend, passed into the arms of his Savior on March 24, 2026. Born May 5, 2002, in Dallas, Texas, to Jeffery and Kimberly Scarcelli, Luke’s 23 years were defined by a boundless generosity and a faith that he lived out in every quiet moment.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at 12:00 noon at First Baptist Church in Commerce.

Raised in Commerce, Texas, Luke was a young man of diverse talents and intellectual curiosity. At Commerce High School (Class of 2020), he served as Captain of the Frontline Ensemble for the Roaring Tiger Band, reaching the State Solo/Ensemble level, and competed as a World Qualifier on the Robotics team. He also met many amazing friends playing his favorite sport soccer. He continued his journey at Texas A&M University-Commerce, earning his Bachelor’s degree in Biology in May 2023 before pursuing his Master’s in Psychology. While at university, he was a leader within the Sigma Chi Fraternity as Chapter Editor and Tribune, and a member of the American Chemical Association.

Yet, for Luke, these accolades were secondary to his calling: serving the "least of these." Whether he was caring for research mice at Baylor College of Medicine, volunteering for the Special Olympics and the Salvation Army, or ministering through the Kairos Prison Ministry, Luke’s life was a testament to his favorite pursuit—sharing the love of Jesus.

You may remember Luke as the DoorDasher who left scripture on every delivery, the silent helper who carried your bags to the car without leaving a name, or the kind server at Saltgrass in Houston who would stop to pray for you in the lobby. He was a man who refused to kill even the smallest pest, a lover of animals who often startled his siblings with a toad in his hand, and a protector of the world God created, often stopping to pick up trash simply out of appreciation for creation.

Luke’s greatest joy was found in the Word of God. He was the first to challenge his siblings in their faith, the first to respond to a need, and the first to head into the night to serve the ones in need. Even when he had little to give, he donated to hundreds of causes, believing no difference was too small to make.

He is survived by his mother, Kimberly; his older siblings, Nikolas, Nathan, Rachel, and Jakob; and his younger siblings, Jude and Hannah. He joins family in the heavenly places in joy and peace.

As we gather this Easter season, we celebrate not only Luke’s life but the Resurrection of Jesus—the hope that guided Luke in his amazing story. Above all, Luke would want his legacy to point directly to his Savior Jesus Christ.
