Melissa Marquez, of Commerce, passed away on 11/2/25 at Hunt Regional Hospital in Greenville. A full obituary is forthcoming.
Melissa Jewel Marquez, 52, of Commerce, passed away after a brief illness, surrounded by her family, in Greenville, Texas, on November 2, 2025. She was born in Mount Pleasant, Texas on September 14, 1973, the daughter of Clyde B. Hale and Linda Reynolds Hale. A visitation will take place on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at Commerce Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Her funeral service will immediately follow beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial is in Center Grove Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant, TX.
She attended Mount Pleasant high school, until 1991. She then attended Kilgore College to study cosmetology. After graduating, she was married to Cimplicio Marquez in 1992. Melissa then lived the next 28 years of her life in Commerce, raising her children.
Melissa worked as a special needs advisor for MHMR and CISD for a combined 15 years of her life. She also worked as a janitorial aide at CISD for 12 of those years. During her free time, Melissa enjoyed life when it was bustling and lively, whether it be indulging in her children's hobbies, or her own. Among those hobbies, she adored traveling, gardening, interior designing, gaming, and crafting many different objects and gadgets.
She always wanted to make memories with her loved ones and have fun while doing it. Melissa loved being a mother most of all and shared her nurturing quality with anyone she came in contact with.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son Bryant Marquez, daughter, Natalie Marquez, son, Mark Marquez, nephew, Adam Acosta, niece, Linda Freelen, and nephew, Gabriel Acosta.
Melissa is preceded in death by her mother, Linda Reynolds Hale, and sister, Carmen Case.
