Patricia Ann Vance

Patricia Ann Vance, of Greenville, TX, passed away at her home on 11/2/25. Patricia was born on February 20, 1946 in South Sulphur, TX, the daughter of James Clifton Spurlock and Clyde Mercedes Keller. A visitation will take place on Thursday, November 6, 2025 from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at Ardis Heights Church in Greenville. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be at South Sulphur Cemetery in the community of South Sulphur.  Officiating is Vicki Ellis Griffis.

Patricia graduated from Commerce High School with the class of 1964. She went on to attend East Texas State University, graduating in 1967. She became a teacher, and impacted lives for 38 years while in that profession.

She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Inspirational Writers Alive, and various bible study groups. Among her hobbies are reading, writing, and quilting. In 1968, she married James R. Vance and they enjoyed over 20 years together.

Patricia was very knowledgeable about the bible and would often share her insights with her bible study groups. Among her favorite passages was Psalm 91, which she read daily. She was known for her kind heart, her hospitality, and being a genuine friend.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, James Vance and wife, Misti; granddaughters, Shelby Vance and Maven Vance, and countless nieces, nephews, and friends who all loved her dearly.

Those preceding Patricia in death are her parents, James and Clyde Spurlock; sisters, Lorene Ellis, Faye Campbell, Maye Brooks, and Wanda Dickson; brothers, James Spurlock, Jr., Jerry Spurlock, Jimmy-Dale Spurlock, and Marion Spurlock.

Serving as Pallbearers are Lucas Murray, B. J. Spurlock, Michael Spurlock, Damon Spurlock, Adam Spurlock, and Christopher O’Banion. Honorary bearers are Sammy Griffis and Bill Garmin.
