William Ethridge Hill, Jr.

William Ethridge Hill passed away suddenly on June 24, 2025 in Commerce, Texas.

He was born September 14, 1949, in Foreman, Arkansas to Ethridge and Bettie Harris Hill. Ethridge graduated from Ashdown High School and attended the University of Arkansas where he was a founding member of River City Street Band, which released two rock albums.

Ethridge played the trumpet (and numerous other instruments) and pursued his passion as a professional musician, audio technician, agent, event planner, and touring road manager with international experience. Over the course of his career, he worked with many well-known artists in the blues and rock music world.

He retired in Commerce, Texas and recently was employed at East Texas A&M University, and Brick Row Mercantile and Recording Studio, working with legendary guitarist Brad Davis.

Ethridge is survived by four sisters: Sandra Hudnall of Little Rock, Arkansas; Elizabeth Moulder of Nazareth, Pennsylvania; Daina Belair of Iva, South Carolina; and Helen Minsker of Chicago, Illinois. He also leaves behind countless friends in the music industry and in Commerce who gave him support and joy. He is remembered for his good nature, his immense talent, and his kindness.

A Celebration of Life service will be held in Commerce at a later date to be determined.

Arrangements are under the direction of Commerce Funeral Home.
