Doyle George, Jr, 89, passed away Thursday, September 21, 2023, in Greenville, Texas, surrounded by his family. He was born on August 12, 1934, in Forney, Texas, the son of Bonnie Doyle George and Minerva Belle George.
Doyle married the love of his life, Dorothy Viola Taylor, in Dallas, on February 15, 1957. They enjoyed sixty-six years together until her death in 2005. Doyle lived most of his life in Farmersville, Texas. He moved to Ladonia in 1996. He worked for 35 years for Southwestern Bell. Following his retirement, he owned and operated Greenville Garden Center for eleven years. Not one to slow down, he then worked for Walmart for fourteen years as the door greeter. Doyle enjoyed outdoor activities such as water skiing, boating, camping, and riding horses. When the boys were older, he was active in FFA with them. Doyle was an active member at Cross Trails Cowboy Church, where he served as an Elder.
Doyle is survived by his sons, Mark Alan George, and Chad Eric George and wife, Tory; his sisters, Etheline, and Sylvia; a brother, David George; and grandchildren, Holly George, Sabryna Clark, and Cutter George.
He is preceded in death by his sisters, Louise, and Rachel.
Serving as pallbearers for Doyle are Mark Greer, Stephen Tally, Tony Hemby, Chuck Latimer, David Barker, and Bubba Barner.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are Kirk Tally and Danny Reichle.
