Edna O'Quinn Obituary

Edna Mae O’Quinn, 96, of Commerce, died peacefully on Saturday, June 6, 2020 in Greenville, Texas.  She was born on March 1, 1924, the daughter of Charlie Jackson Walden and Lula Mae Davis Walden.  The family will receive friends at a visitation to take place at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10 at Commerce Funeral Home.  A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Edna will be buried next to her husband, Pat, in Austin, Texas in Austin Memorial Park.

Edna was born at the family home in Hunt County, Texas.  She attended high school at Campbell High School, graduating with the class of 1942.  It wasn’t until Edna was in her 40s that she attended University of Houston to earn her BS degree.  She taught 5th grade for 30 years.  Edna was a faithful member of the Methodist church during her lifetime.  During her leisure time, she enjoyed fishing with her husband, Pat.  Since his death in the early 80s, she has not had the opportunity to do much fishing.  In her later years, she did enjoy being a member of the Women’s Culture Club and doing a lot of traveling.  Edna’s major in college was history, so she loved to travel and experience different cultures.

Edna is survived by her sons, Michael O’Quinn (Janice) and Danny O’Quinn (Jackie); her grandchildren, Patrick O’Quinn, Gina Dawes, Brian O’Quinn (Debbie), Julia Brady (Tom); 7 great grandchildren; and  sisters, Charlene Alexander (Bill) and Patsy Kelly (Jack).

She was preceded in death by her husband, Pat; her parents, Charlie and Lula Walden; her siblings, Leon Walden, Peggy Wheat, Betty Gossett and Sammy Walden.
