He was married to Lynda Jean Williams of Commerce for 36 years until her passing in 2000. Scoot found a second love, Carolyn Michelle Burnett of Houston, Texas. They were married February 24, 2004. Scoot always was an active participant in organizations. He played high school football, life-long member of Sigma Chi fraternity, and held every office at Sand Hills Country Club. He loved traveling, golf, gardening and participating with his large family at their lake retreat. He was happiest when he had a "project" to plan and execute.
