Gloria Rose

Gloria Rose,75, of Commerce, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family on September 18, 2021. She was born on May 10, 1946, in Farmersville, Texas, the daughter of Roy Dudley Gilliland and Ruth Winburn Gilliland.  The family will receive friends at a visitation to take place Wednesday, September 22, 2021, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Commerce Funeral Home.  Gloria’s memorial service will be Thursday, September 23 at 2:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 711 Crockett St., Wolfe City, TX.

Gloria attended Farmersville High School, graduating with the class of 1964. She earned her teaching degree at East Texas State University, graduating in 1974.  She eventually earned her master’s degree, of which she was especially proud. She was beloved by all who knew her and her passion for teaching meant that thousands of childrens’ lives were enriched by her love. Gloria married the love of her life, Kevin Rose, on December 4, 1981, in Greenville, Texas.  They enjoyed 40 years of marriage together.   She attended and served at Calvary Baptist Church in Wolfe City. Despite her large family, Gloria made time for everyone.  She would always boast about all 4 of her children and 7 grandchildren to anyone who would listen.  In addition to taking care of her children and grandchildren, Gloria loved cooking, sewing, reading novels, and arts and crafts. She and Kevin had a memorable life together and she will be passionately missed.

  Gloria was preceded in death by her daughter, Crystal Cain and her parents, Roy Gilliland and Ruth Bernson.

 Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Kevin; sons Dale Rose; Michael Talley and wife, Tammie; daughter Leigh Davidson and husband, Jason; and seven grandchildren, Beth Striplin, Jaedin Talley, Bree Talley, Wyatt Davidson, Wylie Davidson, Rosaleigh Davidson, and Kaden Rose.

Gloria’s family would like to recognize the following as honorary pallbearers:  Michael Talley, Jason Davidson, Dale Rose, Wyatt Davidson, Wylie Davidson, Kaden Rose and Roy Gilliland, Jr.
