Gwen B McNamee

Gwen McNamee, of Commerce, TX passed away peacefully on March 26, 2020 surrounded by family.  Gwen was born in Maidstone, Kent, England on August 17, 1925.  She served in the British Army during WWII.  She graduated from East Texas State University with high honors and lived her professional life as an elementary school teacher.  Gwen did volunteer work in NAMI in Greenville as “Pink Lady” at Citizens General Hospital Women’s Auxiliary.  She also taught Catechism at St. William’s Catholic Church. 

Gwen was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and daughter, Frances Mary McNamee.  Survivors include son John McNamee and daughter Elizabeth McNamee-Wallace; granddaughter Megan Clay, and husband Zach; and great grandchildren Leila and Candice Clay. 

A private graveside will take place on Monday, March 30, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Rosemound Cemetery in Commerce.  Pastor C.J. Duffey will officiate.  The family would like to extend special thanks to Choice Hospice in Sulphur Springs, TX for their thoughtful services.
