Howie passed late Thursday, September 21, 2023, with the love of his life by his side. He was born on June 9, 1964, in Schoharie, NY. He married Mark George (the love of his life) on July 27, 1987. They spent most of their life together in Greenville, Texas. Howie worked for New York State Tax and Finance until moving to Texas, where he worked for Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, where he retired in 2017.
Howie is preceded in death by his grandmother, Gertrude (Gertie) Porter; mother, Barbara Porter; father, Howard Porter, and two siblings, Timmy Porter, and Tina McKissick.
He is survived by husband, Mark George; two siblings, Jennifer Werner, and Rob Porter; nieces and nephews, Amber Gridley, Nikki Porter, Amanda Porter, Summer Brown, Michael McKissick, Joshua McKissick, Scott Porter, and Matthew McKissick; numerous great nieces and nephews and many friends.
His loves were his dogs (Sparkplug, Sissy, Miracle, and Peanut), dancing and music. He often said that music was the soul of life and always had a song in his “heart”. Dance on, my love, until we are together again. Love you always…
