Janeatha Leigh Barnes, 66, of Commerce, passed away after a lengthy illness on Sunday, June 20, 2021. She was born on June 2, 1955, in Dallas, Texas, the daughter of William H. Keller and Lillian Lawson Keller. A memorial service for Janeatha will take place on Saturday, July 10, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at Commerce Funeral Home.
Janeatha attended Sunset High School in Oak Cliff, graduating with the class of 1973. Soon after graduating high school, she married the love of her life, Walter Lee Barnes, on June 2, 1973. Their nuptials took place at Beverly Hills Baptist Church in Oak Cliff. An interesting fact is that she and Walter were married on her birthday! Her passion has always been caring for those in need, such as caring for the elderly, disabled, or even animals in need of care. This led to her career in home healthcare, which spanned over 20 years. Janeatha loved roses. She spent a great deal of time gardening and potting plants. She enjoyed shopping, taking care of her beloved dogs, and caring for family members. Her greatest passion was raising her granddaughter, Samantha Barnes.
Janeatha is survived by her husband of 48 years, Walter, her daughter, Tracie Reyes and husband, David, her grandchildren, Brandon Reyes and wife, Abigail, Sarah Reyes, Nikolas Reyes, and Samantha Barnes, her great grandchildren, Carter Reyes and Bryson Reyes, and her brothers, Steven Keller, William Keller, II, and David Keller, and her sister, Lisa Keller
She was preceded in death by her son, Scott Lee Barnes, her parents, William and Lillian Keller, and her brother, Carey Keller.
