Jerry Gene Horton

Jerry Gene Horton, 82, of Sulphur Springs, passed away at his home on Saturday, February 27, 2021.  He was born on July 14, 1938 in Commerce, Texas, the son of Grover Cleveland Horton and Lillie Mae Hyman Horton.  The family will receive friends at a visitation to take place on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Commerce Funeral Home.  A graveside service will take place on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Shiloh Cemetery in Klondike, Texas.

Jerry attended high school in Horton, Texas.  He spent his career working for the railroad, working his way up the ranks.  He retired as an engineer.  In 1999, Jerry married Mary West, who passed away in 2010.  Following his retirement from the railroad, Jerry continued to work his ranch, being involved in the cattle business.  He was a long-time member of the Cattleman’s Association. 

Preceding Jerry in death were his wife, Mary, his daughter, Lisa,  his parents, Grover and Lillie Horton, one brother and 4 sisters.
