Jimmie Moore Obituary

Jimmie Frank Moore, 72, of Commerce, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family, on Wednesday, June 9, 2021.  He was born on August 25, 1948, in Commerce, Texas, the son of Jack Aubrey Moore and Grace Reagan Moore.  The family will receive friends at a memorial gathering to take place on Saturday, June 26, 2021, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Fairlie Home Place, 6186 CR 4607 Commerce, TX 75428.

Jimmie grew up in Commerce, attending Commerce High School, graduating in 1969.  Immediately following high school, he enlisted in the Army, serving in Viet Nam from 1969 to 1971.  He was honorably discharged on June 6, 1971. He was a faithful member of the American Legion for many years.   Following his service, he worked at a dairy farm, then drove a truck.  He then worked as a journeyman plumber. Following that, he made a career as an A Class machinist for 41 years, after which he retired.  In 1976, Jimmie married the love of his life, Joan Bennett in Commerce, Texas.  They enjoyed 45 happy years together.

Jimmie was happiest when he was able to be with family, cooking out at home, listening to country music, and gathering with friends.  He taught many people to water ski and spent most summer days on the lake with friends and family.  His fondest memories were made at Pat Mayes Lake.  He also spent many years drag racing at numerous tracks nearby, but mostly out of Paris, Texas.

He loved big and would give anyone the shirt off his back.  He was a great lover of animals, taking care of many strays around town.  He enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels around the house, as well as sitting out on his deck with his wife, Joan, and his dogs.  He loved when his family and friends would join him.  Jimmie lived a simple and happy life and will be greatly missed by many.

Jimmie is survived by his loving wife, Joan; his son, David Yost; daughters, Susan Starkes and Kelli Talley and husband, John; grandchildren, Logan Trower and husband, Thomas, Brooklyn Talley, Keith Starkes and wife, Allison, Philip Starkes, Lora Davis and husband, Dustin; great grandchildren, Jacob Starkes, Sydney Starkes, Lane Starkes, Blakley Davis and Wyatt Trower.

He was preceded in death by parents, Jack and Grace Moore, and his brothers, Charles Moore, Gene Moore, and James Moore.

Serving Jimmie as an honorary pallbearer will be his very good friend, who was more like a brother, Louis Putman, aka: Tooter.
