Obituary

Kathleen Bagwell McQuay, 84, of Honey Grove, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, after a brief illness. She was born on July 30, 1938, in Palacios, Texas, the daughter of Ray Armster Bagwell and Clara Bell Louise (Carter) Bagwell.

Kathleen married William Ross “W.R.” McQuay in a ceremony that took place on October 2, 1955, in Bono, Arkansas. They enjoyed 67 years of marriage. In her early years, Kathleen worked as a seamstress at Frolic Footwear. Later in life, she worked at a convenience store, preparing meals for customers in the store’s kitchen, among other duties. She and W.R. made their home for the last 25 years in Honey Grove, Texas. During her leisure time, Kathleen enjoyed watching the hummingbirds in the yard that she maintained feeders for. She also enjoyed creating beautiful flowerbeds in the yard of her home. She and W.R. were members of the Baptist church.

Left to cherish Kathleen’s memory are her husband, W.R.; her children, Vic Nelson, Debbie Plew, Ross McQuay, Kenny McQuay, and Greg McQuay; her brother, Donnie Bagwell; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Clara Bagwell, and her sister, Lurline Brown
