Kenneth Lamar Garland, II, 53, of Commerce, passed away at his home on Monday, February 7, 2022. He was born on November 26, 1968, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the son of Kenneth Lamar Garland and Beverly Jo (Phillips) Garland.
Ken attended the Tennessee Temple Academy. He spent his career as a service specialist as well as serving as a pastor of a non-denominational church. On November 28, 1986, he married the love of his life, Karen Vann. The nuptials took place in Cedar Hill, Texas.
Ken enjoyed several activities in his down time. His faith was of upmost importance to him. He genuinely enjoyed spending time in bible study. He was a true outdoorsman, enjoying anything that enabled him to be out in nature. He loved fishing, coon hunting and motorcycle riding. He had a fascination with learning about being a backwoods survivalist and all of the equipment that enabled one to survive in nature.
Left to cherish Ken’s memory are his wife of 35 years, Karen; his children, Kris Garland and wife, Sara, and Kayla Garland and boyfriend, Joe Bell; grandchildren, Katherine Garland, Scarlett Garland and Sierra Belcher; parents, Ken Sr. and Hazel Garland; father-in-law, William Vann; siblings, Michelle French and husband, Robert, Charissa Waller and husband, Joel, Renee Ritchie and husband, Toney, and Jonathan Exum and wife, Kayla, as well as many extended family.
Ken is preceded in death by his daughter, Kelly Garland, his mother, Beverly Jo, and his mother-in-law, Katie Vann.
