Kim Gilcrest Obituary

Kimberly Kathleen Gilcrest, 46, of Campbell, Texas passed away after a long battle with cancer on Thursday, April 8, 2021 in Dallas.  She was born on February 28, 1975 in Dallas, the daughter of John Lincoln Levins and Susan Cheryl Morris Levins

Kim attended North Garland High School, graduating in 1993.  Following high school, she attended Texas Women’s University, graduating in 1997 with a BS in education.  Kim married the love of her life, Steve, at First Baptist Church Wylie on September 20, 1997.  She worked for TXDot for several years before beginning her career in education, teaching for Campbell ISD for 13 years.  Kim, her husband, Steve, and their daughters have been residents of Campbell for over 23 years.  They were faithful members of Cross Trails Cowboy Church.  She was a member of several organizations that supported her community as well as her daughters.  These included the CTCC Arena Team, Campbell FFA supporters, Campbell Athletic Booster Club, and the Campbell Volunteer fire Department.

As is often the case, most of Kim’s time was spent supporting her daughters in their many activities.  She was known as one who was always helping others.  Her priority was strengthening her relationship with her Lord Jesus.  She was purposeful in teaching her daughters to be women of God, as well.  She enjoyed various sports, but mainly excelled at basketball.  As a family, Kim, Steve, and their girls enjoyed fishing and camping.  They also enjoyed riding horses together. They loved spending time together outdoors.  Kim was a coach for her daughters in Little Dribblers basketball, as well as softball.

Kim is survived by her husband of 23 years, Steve Gilcrest; her daughters, Taylor, Sara, and Claire; her father, Link Levins, her mother, Susan Hughes and husband, Jack Hughes; her sister, Lori Pickering and husband, Ken; niece, Kinsey Pickering, and a nephew, Christopher Pickering.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Doyle and Juanita Morris and Jim and Mary Levins.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Campbell ISD, 480 North St., Campbell, TX 75422.  Please add in the “memo” section of your check:  Kim Gilcrest Scholarship.
