Robert Lee Keener, 68, of Commerce, passed away after a brief illness on Sunday, September 11, 2022. Robert was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on June 7, 1954, the son of George Leon Keener and Pearl Elizabeth (Collins) Keener. The funeral will take place on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at 9:30 am, at St. Seraphim Cathedral in Dallas. Burial will take place at Slaughter Cemetery in Rodessa, LA with military honors.
Robert graduated from West Rusk High School in Overton, Texas in 1973. He was involved in a wide variety of activities during his time there. He was an athlete, thespian, and photographer, among other things. He had the honor of being voted as Junior Class Favorite, as well as the Powder Puff Sweetheart two times! Robert owned a heavy equipment business, which occupied a great deal of his time. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed collecting various guns.
Left to cherish Robert’s memory are his daughter, Yvette Keener Brown and husband, Kenneth; grandson, Caleb Keener and brother, Bill Keener and wife, Jane.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Pearl Keener.
Serving as pallbearers for Robert are Tony Cavalier, John Whitehead, , John Weaver, Johnny Simmons, Kenneth Brown and Caleb Keener.
