Ruth Ellen Bruner

Ruth Ellen Bruner, 99, of Commerce, passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2021 in Greenville, Texas.  She was born on May 16, 1921 in Clarksville, Texas, the daughter of James Berry Rogers and Zera Hazel Ferguson Rogers.  A graveside service will take place on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Rosemound Cemetery, with David Gibson officiating.

  Following high school, Ruth attended the Brantley Draughon Business College in Ft. Worth, earning an Associate’s Degree in bookkeeping.  Following college, she went to work for Montgomery Ward.  Later, she worked at Neiman Marcus, where she spent some time being a shoe model.  To this day, she loved her shoes!  Ruth married in the early 1940s.  Together, she and her husband had a daughter, Carolyn Ann Bruner, who passed away in 1976.  Ruth was a faithful member of the Commerce Church of Christ.  She will be missed by many friends there.

Ruth is survived by a nephew, Mike Rogers, of Paris, Texas; a first cousin, Louise Sansing, of Wylie and a first cousin, Bob Johnson of Commerce.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, James and Zera Rogers, a brother, James Rogers, and a sister, Wynona Vail.
