Sally Ann Grove

Sally Ann Grove, 85, of Commerce, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 20, 2020.  She was born on July 25, 1935 in Bonham, Texas, the daughter of Sam Barnett and Mary Elizabeth Pace Barnett.  There will be a gathering of family and friends to take place at the First United Methodist Church in Commerce on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.

After high school, Sally studied at East Texas State University.  She spent five years working as a Kindergarten teacher.  She then spent 25 years as an administrative assistant at ETSU.  She married the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Groves on July 2, 1954.  She and her family were faithful members of the First United Methodist Church and First Christian Church in Commerce for 57 years.  Sally was a member of Toastmasters as well as the Red Hat Society.  Many fond memories were created as she served in these organizations.  She genuinely enjoyed many varied activities in her spare time.  She was an avid gardener and a great cook, which came in handy because she loved to entertain.   Imagine the stories that were told around the table covered in great comfort food!  Many good times were had playing board games with her family and friends, as well.

Sally is survived by her husband of 66 years, Robert; her children, Jim Bob Grove and wife, Jill, and Mary Elizabeth Perry-Miller and husband, Ralph; grandchildren, Joseph Grove, Mindy Rutledge, Nathan Grove, Robert Scott Grove and John Perry-Miller; 5 great grandchildren and brothers, Ronnie Routt, and George Routt.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Mary Elizabeth Barnett; her daughter, Betty Grove and a sister, Brenda Routt.
