William Robert Husbands

William (Bill) Robert Husbands, 78, of Commerce, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 23, 2021. He was born in Campbell, Texas on March 14, 1943, the son of Audrey Francis Husbands and Mattie Faye Hilbun Husbands.  The family will receive friends at a visitation to take place on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Campbell, Texas.  A funeral will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, with Rev. Danny Gandy officiating.  A private burial will take place following the service.

Bill graduated from Greenville High School with the class of 1961. He worked as the Security Captain for L-3 Communications until his retirement in 2005.  He was saved in church at a young age and loved the Lord with all his heart.  He enjoyed a love for music.  He especially enjoyed the songs that he grew up with in church.  Bill was also a member of the masonic lodge for over thirty years.  Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother.  He loved his family most of all.  He was never happier than when surrounded by his family, whether coaching little league, taking family vacations, celebrating holidays, or sitting around the table for Sunday dinner.  He and the love of his life, Jannie, enjoyed 58 wonderful years of marriage. He believed no sacrifice was too great for his family and proved that on a daily basis by his hard work.  He had a special relationship with his granddaughter, Oliva, who was the light of her papa’s eye.  They spent many days together eating ice cream and laughing.  Bill will be missed, until we meet again in heaven!

Bill is survived by his loving wife, Jannie; his son, Tracy Husbands, of Commerce, his daughter, Kelly Daily and husband, Eric, his granddaughter, Olivia Daily, all of Campbell, his brother, Charles Husbands and wife, Betty, of Sulphur Springs, sister, Francis Long of Greenville, and sister, Shirley Helton and husband, Brad, of Rockwall, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Audrey and Mattie Husbands,

Serving as pallbearers for Bill are Daren Dawson, Kaden Dawson, James Snyder, Keith Husbands, Josh Dawson, and James Dawson.
