William Ray Patton

William Ray Patton, 39, died at his home in Commerce on Monday, March 7, 2022. He was born on July 28, 1982, in Fort Worth, Texas.

Ray was a lifelong resident of Commerce. He attended Commerce High School, graduating with the class of 2001. He worked in manufacturing at Rubbermaid and Fritz industries in Greenville and in construction for Jerry Davies. He enjoyed spending his free time on outdoor activities, including running, archery, climbing, snowboarding, and jujitsu.

Ray is survived by his parents, Susan and Jim Patton; his sister, Marie Karnes and her husband, Allan; niece and nephew, Sherri and Shawn Karnes; aunt, Patricia Patton Mulkey; aunt and uncle, Diane and Robin Binford; and cousins Jonathan Mulkey, Cicely Binford, Becca Kavich, Alex Kavich, Brittany Reiff, Jacob Reiff, and Gibson Reiff.

He was preceded in death by his cousin, Curtis Mulkey and his uncle, Clark Mulkey.

Serving as honorary pallbearers are Santiago Felipe, Shawn Karnes, Allan Karnes, Jonathan Mulkey, and Leo Rodrigues.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Commerce Public Library, the Commerce Animal Shelter, the Commerce Food Bank, or the Pastor’s Discretionary fund at First United Methodist Church in Commerce.
