Jim earned his Mortuary Science degree from the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service.  He and Teena served funeral homes in Plano, McKinney and Nacogdoches prior to making the move to Commerce.  Before becoming involved in the funeral industry, Jim earned his Master of Arts degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.  He served as an associate pastor in Carrollton, Texas for several years.  It is his belief that his time spent in ministry prepared him to be a much more effective funeral director. Jim enjoys reading, working in the yard and crochet.  He always gets strange looks when he tells people he crochets.  His grandmother taught him when he was a young child-a cherished memory.

Teena Ayres is co-owner of Commerce Funeral Home and Cremation Service.  Before moving to Commerce, she enjoyed living in Nacogdoches, Texas and McKinney, Texas.  Teena’s experience in office management and customer service comes from working in the home health industry, in the pediatrics industry, and in working with churches and other not-for-profit organizations.  Teena’s outgoing personality and her genuine care and concern for others has allowed her to build many life-long relationships with clients and coworkers over the years.   Teena is an avid dog lover and many times can be found sitting with a dog cuddled in her lap.  She also enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband, Jim, and other family members and friends.
