I'm sorry for my slow response to the sad news about Dan's passing. Dan and I were undergraduate students together at the University of Texas and lived at TLOK cooperative house. Although we didn't keep in touch after UT, I remember Dan as a delightful and fun loving friend and was just a joy to know. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. I'm very sorry for your loss.

My Prayers are truly with you in this time of sorrow. We serve a big God and there is nothing too hard for him to handle. Know that he will take away the pain in due time and give you Peace in the midst of your storm. Mr. Jones spoke at my uncle's portrait revealing service as well as his home going. What a great man and very polite and kind. My heart is sadden by this great loss and I hope that your family will continue to heal. Sincerely, The Ivory E. Moore Sr. Family

There are so many great things that I could say about Dr. Jones, but you already know them all.
Please take comfort in knowing that God has promised us that He would never leave us nor forsake us. It is my prayer that God surrounds you all with His peace and comfort which is beyond our understanding.
Although most of us knew him as a colleague or as our President or as in my case both, our since of loss does not compare to yours. It is my prayer that you will find comfort in the knowledge that Dr. Jones was loved and respected by many and that love extends to his family as well.
Yours in Christ,
Minister Demetra Robinson

Dr. Dan Jones, Your support of the University in all its endeavors will be sorely missed. Your presence at athletic events, dinners and alumni meetings were an inspiration to us all. You follow in the footsteps of others at the University who also had stress related problems. Dr. Woodall, and Dr. McFadden are two University leaders who come to mind. Other staff members have also followed that same path. Rest in Peace! Dr. Jones! Blessed be the Peacemakers.

I had the privilege of working with Dan during his many years at UH-Downtown. I will remember his easy manner, quick wit, sharp mind, and love of baseball, at that time his hometown Astros. Dan was well-liked and respected by everyone on campus, and it was not a great surprise to see him move swiftly though the ranks, from faculty member to dean to provost to president. My heart goes out to his wife and daughters. Rest in Peace Dan.

I have visited with Dr. Jones several times the last few years at meetings of the North Texas Commission. I was quite impressed at his enthusiasm for A&M Commerce and his many plans for his future. He has done so much for the school since 2008 !
I am especially sad that his life was cut so short both for his family and the wonderful future he envisioned for the University. I am thankful that I had the pleasure of meeting him. Sincerely, Maurine Dickey
